Weekly Review

What was the scripture in Ephesians that had a major impact on you in this reading?

I have always been impressed by the verses on the Ministry Gifts and the following explanations about the church (Eph 4:4-16). These verses show me that because most people are too self-centered, they do not benefit from what Jesus has done for them and the whole church suffers from that. The self-centered attitude comes from focusing on our needs, as we don’t believe that they are fully met by Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.  In turn, self-centeredness produces a lack of understanding of the role we have in the local church. Believers are not observers. They are doers. Further, being self-centered makes us not understand the role of the local church as related to the universal church. The impact and ramifications of this are enormous.

We should all pray for revelation in these areas so that we can receive the grace to come into the will of God in our lives. The grace was given. Are we willing to receive it?
